The Trailer for X3: The Last Stand, came out today. I'll be honest and say that it looks pretty damn good. Which is surprising because the number of stupid decisions surrounding this movie is just staggering. First they take out Nightcrawler, which I guess is ok, but in exchange for giving Halle Berry a bigger role? I guess winning an Oscar really does get you what you want. Then Bryan Singer bails for Superman, and the next director quits before filming. I'd assume at this point, you'd want to reasses and not rush into rash decisions. Nope. Ratner is hired and they push X3 hard just so they can beat Singer's Superman to the big screen. Lastly, they're doing Joss Whedon's "cure" storyline from Astonishing X-Men, but don't actually get Whedon to direct it? If that wasn't the most obvious director choice ever, I don't know what is.
With all that negativity, those trailers look damn good. Sure Juggernaut looks horrible, but when he's running through a wall...I don't really seem to care. Colossus looked weird in some production photos, but as long as he throws Wolverine into an army of soliders, the main plot device could involve talking frogs for all I care. Seriously, I guess the X-Men franchise has earned the benefit of the doubt. When the intial photos of Wolverine showed up for X-Men, everybody thought the movie was going to suck. Instead Hugh Jackman turned out to be the perfect Wolverine. ?Of course I'm going to be there on opening night anyway, so I guess this is all moot. Fox is going to get my money anyway...
On the other hand, Superman Returns... looks amazing and I'm 99.999% sure it will be amazing. I guarantee it will be the #1 grossing film this year. Yes, mark my prediction down now. At the end of the year, you must give me props.
