We're early this week, but only because I'm AFK for the rest of this week, so I had to post it early. (don't expect it this early next week). This will probably be our last X-Men strip for a while, as we've done three in a row. Maybe when Superman Returns comes out, we'll have a Superman week too, or maybe not. Has anybody been reading All-Star Batman lately? I know a lot of people make fun of it, but it's actually sort of a neat take on Batman. I know it's supposed to be the "Dark Knight" Batman, who is the coolest Batman ever, but right now it just seems over the top. Forcing Dick Grayson to eat Rats? Not to mention that all he ever says is "Shut Up" It also took him 3 issues to drive home. Still, Issue 5 is supposed to have Frank Miller's JLA. I have to say I'm looking forward to it. On to 52...maybe the reason they don't do real time comics...is because nothing much happens...

Although I admit it's begun quite slow, I'm liking 52. Steel's cool, and I'm always excited to read more Booster Gold. And remember, it's only been 5 weeks so far, and week 5 has started hinting at bigger things to come. But if things remain this slow through week 40, my tune will change. That said, while the whole week-by-week idea is an interesting concept, I would've rather seen 6 miniseries following the separate central characters. DC's already doing all those Crisis Aftermath minis, why not a group of Year After minis? Maybe it wouldn't work as well for what the story's supposed to be, but it would feel less decompressed. All-Star Batman and Robin is really fun. 'Nuff said. One thing that I've really gotten into recently is Annihilation. I realize I've really missed out on a lot of the galactic part of the Marvel universe and feel like I should rectify that. I guess the mini's doing it's job, huh? :) And I just reread Infinity Gauntlet too. While I could care less what Super Skrull's doing, I've always been fascinated by Galactus and his heralds; Nova was always great back in New Warriors (but what's up with this Marvel Green Lantern Corps? just more I have to go read); and Thanos was and will always be bad-ass. Ronan I haven't heard much about before, but his story seems to be done pretty well too. Basically it's lots of people flying around the Marvel Universe kicking ass and blowing shit up. Can't disrespect that. But outside of comic world, it's hard to believe that friends of mine are getting married and engaged already. I feel like I have to keep up, so perhaps one of you lovely ladies who loves comics and other geeky things and obsesses over us for our great work but isn't crazy and is totally hot should go get hitched with me in Vegas sometime soon. I look like a mix of a young shirtless Colossus and Doop! Seriously! There's been an unopened can of Miller Lite in my hallway for almost a week now. I want to take it and claim it as my own, but I'm deathly afraid that it's booby-trapped. Why? Because that's exactly what I'd do. I'd rig a seemingly full can with a dye pack to explode when disturbed so I will know that that fucker with the blue hands is the one that tried to take my beer. When I find a decent stick I will attempt to get that sucker.
